WHAT XMRBazaar IS:
XMRBazaar is a platform that connects buyers and sellers of goods and services, allowing users to directly participate peer-to-peer in digital cash-based legal commerce.
XMRBazaar administrates the usage of the platform, deleting/banning listings and accounts that it is aware of that may be committing illegal activity or that it determines violates the platform’s terms. However, the platform does not and can not participate in transactions and encrypted communications made among users, thus ultimately the users are responsible for their own actions on the platform and are responsible for abiding by the laws in their jurisdictions.
XMRBazaar’s mission is to allow people to safely and legally live freely off of Monero without any middleman participating in their transaction (including the XMRBazaar platform itself), and its vision is to increase the worlds liberty index by buidling out a global Monero based circular economy.
XMRBazaar ALLOWS USERS TO:
- Sign-up with nothing more than a user name and a password (allowing those that want to, to remain anonymous)
- Create profiles to introduce users to each other by describing the goods and services they want to purchase and/or could potentially provide, and to build-up trust and a reputation by posting links to social media profiles and displaying their listings and review history
- Post listings to “Earn Monero“ (e.g. Buy my used Jeep), “Spend Monero“ (e.g. Looking to hire a carpenter) and “List a buinsess“ (e.g. A Monero-accepting NYC pizza parlor)
- Browse, search and view listings
- Chat publicly in a “troll box“, or message each other via an automatic PGP-encrypted messenger
- Place orders and enter into direct peer-to-peer transactions, with “direct payment“ where the buyer pays directly to the seller’s Monero wallet or with “2-of-3 multisig escrow“ among the buyer, seller and a mediator
- Publish reviews, comments and ratings of each other and the listings.
XMRBazaar is only a platform that brings buyers, sellers and mediators together and never processes payments or participates in any way in the Monero tranasactions made between the platform users. XMRBazaar never holds custody of any users’ Monero or Monero private keys, is never able to access any users’ Monero or wallets, can not view the transactions being made among users, and never transfers or touches any users’ Monero. XMRBazaar never recieves any revenue, fee, percentage or profit from any of the transactions made between the platform users.
HOW PAYMENTS & THE ESCROW SYSTEM FUNCTION:
XMRBazaar does not hold funds or process payments on its server. It only provides a directory for buyers, sellers and mediators to meet each other, similar to Craigslist.
For “Direct Payments“, the buyer sends Monero directly to the seller’s external wallet (such as Cake, Feather, GUI). For “Escrow Payments“, the buyer selects a mediator from a list. The buyer, seller and mediator are the counterparties in the multisig escrow. XMRBazaar is never a counterparty in the multisig. The mediators do not work for nor are they agents of XMRBazaar. A 2-of-3 multisig wallet is generated in the user’s browser (via Monero JavaScript) and is never sent to the server. Only multisig data strings (prepare multisig, export multisig info, etc.) are encrypted and sent to the server in order to be forwarded to the other participants. XMRBazaar cannot decrypt these multisig data strings, as they are encrypted to the participants’ keys. Multisig data strings do not contain private keys and cannot be used to spend funds. The private keys remain locally in the user’s browser.
USER DATA THE PLATFORM HAS ACCESS TO AND STORES:
XMRBazaar does not store IP addresses and does not use analytics. XMRBazaar stores the following information: User info (username, hash of password, email address, avatar, bio, Monero address, PGP public key); listing info (title, price, category, photo, reviews, comments); order info (product, price, buyer, seller, mediator, order status, Monero address and amount, PGP encrypted order note, for physical products - PGP encrypted shipping address, PGP encrypted tracking number); private messages (sender, recipient, timestamp, PGP encrypted content). The server cannot decrypt PGP encrypted content. Users can delete their accounts and listings at any time. Users can cancel and anonymize orders at any time (e.g. if the buyer anonymizes their order, the seller will see “ordered by Anonymous“). If both users anonymize the order, it is removed from the database. Users can delete their sent private messages and hide received private messages.
HOW THE PLATFORM PROTECTS USER PRIVACY & IDENTITY:
XMRBazaar does not require KYC and can be used pseudonymously. Users only need to provide a username and password. An email address is optional for password resets and notifications. JavaScript is only required for the multisig escrow tool (direct payments work without JavaScript) and the automatic encrypted messenger (manual PGP works without JavaScript). While XMRBazaar offers a way to build a reputation via reviews and ratings, throwaway accounts are also permitted, although not encouraged for purposes of building up trust and reputation among users. XMRBazaar does not log IP addresses, however the user’s IP address is still visible to the server while connecting and the user’s ISP can see that the user visited XMRBazaar. Therefore a VPN or Tor is recommended when using XMRBazaar for increased privacy.
NO LISTINGS OFFERING ILLEGAL ITEMS OR SERVICES ARE TOLERATED ON THE PLATFORM:
Users are responsible for following the laws of their jurisdictions. Any users found breaking the law or violating the terms may be permanently banned from the platform.
XMRBazaar does not allow listings that are harmful, dangerous or illegal. Users can report harmful listings. Reported harmful listings will be deleted and the user may be banned.
NO HARM TO OTHER USERS OR TO THE PLATFORM ALLOWED:
Users may not harm, threaten or harass other users. Users may not spam, scam, phish, hack or cause any other harm or inconvenience to other users or the platform. XMRBazaar can ban members at any time for any reason.
NO HIGH-RISK LISTINGS
XMRBazaar does not allow listings that pose a high risk to the platform. XMRBazaar, without needing to explain its reasoning, can determine whether a listing is high-risk. Users can report high-risk listings. Determined high-risk listings will be deleted and the user who posted it may be banned.
NO SCAMS
XMRBazaar does not allow scams, including but not limited to:
- Product/service is not delivered.
- Faulty product/service is delivered
- Different product/service than displayed is delivered
- Payment is not sent
- Different payment than agreed is sent
- Fake or misleading listings
- Fake or misleading reviews
Users can report scam listings. Listings found to be scams will be deleted and the member will be banned. Users can also give negative reviews/ratings/comments for orders. XMRBazaar cannot refund lost money or products.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
Users use this platform at their own risk. XMRBazaar holds no liability for any damages.
XMRBazaar cannot guarantee the security of the platform. XMRBazaar is not responsible or liable for the security of accounts, listings, transactions or wallets, the content of listings, orders or profiles, or the actions of members.
XMRBazaar holds no responsibility or liability for any losses, including but not limited to loss of money, loss of products, failed transactions, scams or hacks, problems with using Monero, or changes in the Monero exchange rate.
Users hold full responsibility and liability for their content, actions and the security of their accounts, listings, orders, transactions and wallets.
Be careful of vendors with no reputation or a poor reputation. XMRBazaar is still in beta and the escrow feature may still have bugs. Be careful with using the escrow feature for large amounts. Use this platform at your own risk. XMRBazaar holds no liability for any damages.
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED “AS IS“, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NONINFRINGEMENT. IN NO EVENT SHALL THE AUTHORS BE LIABLE FOR ANY CLAIM, DAMAGES (INCLUDING ANY GENERAL, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF THE USE OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM, EVEN IF SUCH HOLDER OR OTHER PARTY HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES) OR OTHER LIABILITY, WHETHER IN AN ACTION OF CONTRACT, TORT OR OTHERWISE, ARISING FROM, OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE PLATFORM OR THE USE OR OTHER DEALINGS IN THE PLATFORM. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF THE PLATFORM IS WITH YOU. SHOULD THE PLATFORM PROVE DEFECTIVE, YOU ASSUME THE COST OF ALL NECESSARY SERVICING, REPAIR OR CORRECTION.
