Facebook censored my listing because I offer XMR as a payment option.
I buy & sell on xmrbazaar, but I also buy & sell a lot of junk on Facebook marketplace in my local area.
In an effort to increase XMR adoption and earn XMR/Crypto, I always put a note in the description of my listing that I accept XMR and I even offer a discount to people willing to pay for items with crypto.
Most are not crypto people and don't even know how to buy it, so I offer one piece of advice as a long shot to see if someone will bite:
"Discount for Monero/Bitcoin payers. If you don't have any crypto, you can use cash at a Bitcoin ATM and I will eat all the fees for you!"
Unfortunately anything crypto related usually comes off as a scam, especially regarding Bitcoin ATMs considering their prevalence in crytpo scams to trick grandma out of her money.
Only once have I ever gotten someone to pay me in crypto. Some guy bought using Eth. Not XMR, but still cool nonetheless.
Today I got a message that one of my listings had been moderated by Facebook. The rule they said I broke was:
"Documents, Currency, and Financial Instruments
Commerce content may not promote the buying, selling, or trading of real or fake documents, currency, financial instruments or virtual currency."
https://www.facebook.com/policies_center/commerce/documents_currency_and_financial_instruments
Apparently Facebook's interpretation of buying & selling "virtual currency" includes even just accepting it as a payment method.
The ironic part is that I consider Monero the only REAL currency. If anything, USD is the "virtual" currency. Fiat money, numbers on a screen, backed by nothing but air.
I submitted an appeal to Facebook, we'll see what they say.
