...and Why Sticking to the Letter of the Law May Not Shield You (or the Samourai Devs) from a Desperate State Beast

The P2P economy is the ultimate third-party killer. But those third parties didn’t rise to power in a vacuum: people have long preferred outsourcing the headache of dealing with bad actors to states, banks, platforms, and corporations. (Later, some wake up unhappy with who gets labeled “bad”… but that’s a rabbit hole for another day.)

There are tools to balance the P2P Wild West with safety, like escrow, an ancient and time-tested concept (not just some recent blockchain novelty). I’ve published two pieces emphasizing that the only way to protect your money from scammers is to deal either with traders you know or those who have XMR locked as skin-in-the-game in a multisig wallet (what we call “escrow”) or bonds, and that nobody on XmrBazaar should trade without “escrow” or bonds for amounts they’re not ready to lose:

My lawyer told me to stay a mile away from any unlicensed escrow services.

Some asked openly. Most didn’t. They are simply not using the tool and keep their doubts to themselves. Here’s a real excerpt from my DM exchange (unedited but cleaned of irrelevant and private details) that captures the doubts of many users perfectly:...

good guide. should probably add that windows user need to use CMD/Powershell terminal and instead of "./monero-wallet-cli" its something like "C:/path/to/monero-wallet-cli.exe" which is required unless monero-wallet-cli is registered in %PATH% as a environment variable.
