A green heatmap can be one bad price wearing a trench coat.
A tiny synthetic fixture for anyone building a crypto dashboard. These are invented assets and numbers, not market quotes:
- WIDGET/STABLE: one WIDGET costs 0.01 STABLE. Assume STABLE is $1. That makes WIDGET $0.01.
- WIDGET/NOISE: one WIDGET costs 0.001 NOISE. Assume NOISE is $10. WIDGET is still $0.01. Inject a bad USD conversion of $1 for this row to test your checks.
- NOISE/WIDGET: one NOISE costs 1,000 WIDGET. A $10 base-token price belongs to NOISE, not WIDGET. Divide $10 by 1,000 to recover the implied $0.01 WIDGET price.
Now give WIDGET a synthetic circulating supply of one million, and all other assets in the basket a combined $10,000 market cap. Selecting the consistent WIDGET price gives a $20,000 basket. Selecting the deliberately bad $1 mark gives $1,010,000, with WIDGET accounting for 99.01%. Every other asset stayed unchanged. That is concentration, not evidence of a broad rally.
For a real feed, keep the exact chain and contract, base/quote side, quote-token conversion source and observation time with each row. Compare active pools of the same asset; don't quietly mix in a dormant launch curve. Check the largest constituent before trusting the category total. A returned pool can contain your requested token on the quote side.
I checked the arithmetic locally. This fixture does not diagnose any live provider, establish an executable price or test whether a token can be sold. Agreement across one provider's pools is not independent corroboration.
