I bought a HestiaPi thermostat during the originally crowd funding campaign, and years later when I found out the creator was too busy to do software updates or produce hardware, I decided to step up to the plate and take care of software maintenance and hardware production.
Skills
I've been doing software design and development since the late 1990s and electronics work since the mid 90s. I look forward to getting into the ESP series (likely focusing on the ESP32 line) to try to bring down the cost of having multiple thermostats.
Looking to buy
If anyone wants to sell me the electronics components for building open source hardware, I'd be happy to pay using XMR that I earn from sales. I think it'd be VERY cool to get a circular economy, even if the supplier of components has to do some fiat conversions for the time being.
Looking to sell
The thermostats that I make. My dream is to make open source hardware and software for a living. It's unlikely to ever happen, given the market dynamics. So I'll settle for making sure that there's an alternative to the corporate spyware products for those who are willing and able to buy them.
