With AilliA and XmrBazaar's twitter accounts being suspended for no reason, it seems that the powers that be may eventually be looking at shutting this place down too in the future. At least it seems like this place is in their sights. I think it would be very important to the longevity of this site if there could be a way to list and browse without this website having to be be up. I guess something like Haveno.

I do not know anything about building ecommerce applications or anything, but in my mind a possible way to do this is like torrenting where all the listing data like images, prices, descriptions, are all downloaded, and when someone makes a change, it is made on everyone's copy when they update (download changes from everyone else). Since the security of the actual transaction is established by the Monero GUI, all the XmrBazaar client has to do is just be able to update listing information and provide a way to message sellers.

Obviously I could see security concerns like seller's addresses being replaced with the address of a bad actor, but I would think the security would be the same as any other kind of messenger application. There is a XmrBazaar user who is a dev of Vector which is a private messenger program (https://github.com/VectorPrivacy/Vector). Maybe they might be able to collaborate help with this kind of development since they seem very in tune with the purpose of this website.

Keep in mind that I do not know if Vector is trustworthy. I've only heard about it from another XmrBazaar user who I know personally, and who is in communications with that dev who is their customer.

tbh social media sites ban accounts for no reason all the time and company support is mostly AI now so it doesn't mean its really targeted.

the easiest and most censorship resistant way would be a tor onion site that also exponentially increases privacy, anonymity and security for user. much easier than a whole application.

Agree with glamorous_oak here. The ban probably just twitter going haywire with their team and not specifically about Monero. I mean, my account also got suspended without any explanation and that accound basically just sit idle. The system probably marked it as spam or bot probably.

But nontheless, the idea of censorship-resistance forum would be cool to have. Start making Lemmy instance for XmrBazaar? how about that. But there's already ton of Monero forum anyway but the reach still not as great as twitter
