At some point, I stopped caring about death, both fearing it and/or wanting it. I just hope it will be fast and senseless. It was an incredibly liberating feeling to know that the physical world has no control over me -- simply being aware that I alone hold the power to decide whether to end my life in any given moment, is such a profound source of freedom AND this realization is so powerful (in my case) that it completely eliminates any desire to act on that choice :)

Being alive is so fun though, you'll miss giggling.
Have you tried places w/ great weather, like California?
It upped my will to live a bit, definitely.

yeah, you know, I've tried SO many places (most with great weather :)), but that's not the main reason why I totally agree that being alive is fun :))
The post (and the book) IS about being alive!
I just don't like the general taboo on thinking about death and discussing it: it's an inalienable part of being alive (at least so far; that might (or might not) change in the future).
That's one of the reasons I lean toward the Japanese spirit: one of the very few cultures where death isn't a taboo at all. Many others fetishize it while simultaneously making it taboo to even think about.
So, this is just the place to discuss it :)

Cool insights. :-) Thanks for sharing. My distinction on life, living and alive in simple... Life is a process of experiences. Living is the journey as those processes pass through you. And alive is the state you are in as you go on that journey. If one accepts that, then death is simply the point of transmutation when you've accumulated sufficient experiences for this instance of being alive.
