Probably because it struck a chord, my life was totally boring, I’d just drifted along year after year… and that scenario could actually be a reality.

As it happened, the factory was looking to reduce staff numbers and offering voluntary redundancy packages.

I was left feeling shattered, that I’d made the biggest mistake of my life, we’d lose our home, the kids were going into care and I was heading for the divorce courts.

I left my factory job for the last time, and strolled home at 4.30pm on Friday afternoon not knowing what I was going to do.

The following week, I was roped into doing household chores and DIY jobs.

When I had chance, I'd look online for any sort of business opportunity, read a few blogs, looked at social media for inspiration, and hoped something would jump out at me.

While I was there I had a quick look through the CD’s and books.

I’m not really into novels, much prefer biographies and business related books.

One book caught my eye - probably due to the vivid colours on the cover, rather than the 3-word title.

It looked to have been well read, and as I turned a few pages, some sentences were underlined.

At first I thought it was some sort of ‘get rich quick’ nonsense, but as I leafed through it, there in front of me was an amazing system to make some serious money.

That resonated with me, having wasted a great deal of my life so far.

Later that night when the wife and kids were in bed, I got a pen and paper, made myself a drink, and read the book cover to cover.

Within the first few pages I knew this was exactly what I was looking for.

I literally made pages of notes and by the time I went to bed, I wasn’t just confident, I was absolutely sure that I could replicate what the author of the book had achieved.
