First edition. Signed by Pablo Escobar and inscribed "Para Sergio con mucho aprecio"; Escobar has also added an inked fingerprint near his inscription.
Bound in publisher's original padded brown leather boards stamped in gilt. Near Fine with light wear to covers, dried tape residue to top corner of rear cover. Front hinge a little strained under the weight of the textblock. Contents tanned and with sporadic foxing.
Pablo Escobar was a Colombian drug lord and narcoterrorist who was the founder and sole leader of the Medellín Cartel. Dubbed "the king of cocaine", Escobar was the wealthiest criminal in history, having amassed an estimated net worth of US$30 billion by the time of his death, while his drug cartel monopolized the cocaine trade into the United States in the 1980s and early 1990s.
This book is a collection of political cartoons concerning the Colombian drug trade, self-published by Escobar himself while serving time in his luxury prison. A publishing oddity and an opportunity not afforded to most prisoners, highlighting the power of Escobar and the inability of the government to contain him.
