The real aka is selected as mediator, the fake one contacted you directly and you chatted with him under the assumption it’s the same person

This is why his msgs disappeared from your stream. The fake one has changed his username. And you are trying to communicate with the real one where there is no msgs

I do see the double underscore now, and I'm not disputing I was a sucker, but when I click that mediator link showing seller and mediator, it takes me to the real mediator's profile. So I'm still not sure what exactly happened.

Like I said, the trade was initiated with real mediator. So you go to his real profile when clicked.

Your trade chats show that the fake one contacted you in private chat. Do you made the assumption it was same person.

Your trade chats show has no escrow flow, you all need to accept and store a private mnemonic. There is a tutorial for escrow. You were basically bypassing escrow and sending xmr via private chat.

Escrow has all three of you chatting in the trade

Everything you said sounds exactly like what happened, and yes I got suckered by the fake profile. I did accept and store a 24 word mnemonic, but it's not showing that I accepted it.

So just to be clear (if you know): is RainyRabbit real or was he part of the scam? He's the one who picked the escrow.

It sucks. There are always going to be scammers looking for an angle to exploit, so you can never trust anything.

I will admit that the escrow flow has too much friction and isn’t novice friendly, which is why I have opted for bond. Bond system makes way more sense if only it worked properly too.

I have had a couple trades where the purchaser has mailed me cash with no escrow funded. The non escrow is so much simpler for someone simply wanting to make a simple purchase without complications. I realise that wasn’t the plan with you, but I think people should study the guides as part of the signup process.

The irony is that I've done two non-escrow cash-by-mail trades without escrow and one meetup, and all went smoothly with no issues. Then I try to use escrow....and I did read the guide, but apparently not nearly as thoroughly as I should have.

I am glad I registered another AshleyJones account with an "i" as an "L" a while ago to prevent this type of duping. I think everyone else should do the same, or at least there needs to be code implemented that forces unique usernames like cytu.be does. It detects anyone using a impersonation-type username. If XmrBazaar was open source for contributions, we could get that done quickly enough.

https://xmrbazaar.com/user/Davidson/ is a scammer. He/she first said they paid for an item, not even linking or mentioning the name of the item itself. The went on saying, that they contacted the support and were suggested that the payment gets approved via verification link. This is the link: https://s55.offer92152.shop/XmrBazaar. Which leads to phishing website called shoperify (Created ad hoc, I guess).
